Protein chocolate smoothie

You come back home after a hard workout and you’re not sure what’d be best to eat? Here’s my favourite post-workout, recovery smoothie. Sweet, chocolate, without any powders – thick and satiating.

Smoothie is a genious invention – almost like oatmeal! The versatility of possible flavors is virtually endless. However, each of us has several of his own „tastes”, we always come back to after a while. For me, one of these tastes is cocoa. That’s why I love chocolate oatmeals, puddings, as well as smoothies. This particular is fantastic, because it’s a great recovery meal after a hard workout. The appropriate ratio of carbohydrates and protein rebuilds muscle and restores glycogen, while cocoa contains a very large amount of antioxidants and flavonoids and has properties (oversimplifying) that improve oxidation and rebuild our blood.

RECIPE

Whenever I can, I avoid artificial enhancements and reach to nature. I don’t like various pills, powders and other artificial nutrients. Hence, instead of protein poweder, in my recipe you’ll find cottage cheese. Of course, you can treat yourself with a spoonfull of powder, but it’s a different taste and different nutritional value.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 banana (100g)
  • 100g light cottage cheese (vegans – silken tofu)
  • 1 tbsp (ca. 7g) natural cocoa
  • 1 tbsp (ca. 7g) oatmeal or oat bran
  • water

PRAPARATION:

  1. Put all the ingredients in a blender container
  2. Fill with half of water and blend thoroughly
  3. Fill with rest of the water to achieve your favourite consistency (i like it thick)
